Types of Visas

TOURIST VISA: It is given for upto 1 to 5 years. The applicant is required to produce/submit documents in proof of his financial standing. Tourists travelling in groups of not less than four members under the auspices of a recognized travel agency may be considered for grant of collective tourist visa. (Reg. grant of 5 years tourist visa, the continuous stay during each visit shall not exceed 90 days)

Documents Required for Tourist visa:

1. For Namibian Nationals (N$1490/- for 1 years & N$2980/- for upto 5 years) At least 5 working days in advance.

Two Recent photos (Size: 51mm x 51mm) (Not older than three months, no uniform) with white background with DARK DRESS and frontal view.. Eyebrows should be visible, ears, forehead chin to be completely visible. Clarity of the photo is very important - Edited, blurred or unclear photos should not be accepted.

Original passport with photocopy, passport validity more than 6 months, with at least

2 blank pages both sides. Copy of air ticket/tentative bookings etc. hotel booking confirmation/lodging details, copy of latest bank statement

2. For Foreign Nationals (at least 15 days in advance)

BUSINESS VISA (fee N$1790/- for 1 years & N$3730/- for 5 years): It is valid for one or more year with multiple entries. A letter from sponsoring organization indicating nature of business, probable duration of stay, places and organizations to be visited incorporating therein a guarantee to meet maintenance expenses, etc. should accompany the application. Business Visa is granted to a foreign national who wants to visit India to establish an industrial/business venture or to explore possibilities to set up industrial/business venture, or wants to purchase/sell industrial products in India. The applicant is a person of assured financial standing and expertise in the field of the intended business. The applicant is not visiting India for the business of money-lending or petty-trading, or for a full time employment in India involving payment of salary in India etc.

The facility of Business Visa is also extended to senior executives of firms, experts, tour conductors and travel agents, etc., visiting India in connection with work related to projects of national importance, including those undertaken by public sector undertakings, and conducting business tours of foreigners or business relating to it, etc. A foreign national will have to comply with some other requirements, a minimum stay of 2 years in Namibia is required, attach copy of work permits/residence permits, copy of latest bank statement, copy of local IDs etc..

STUDENT VISA(N$1200/-): It is issued for the duration of the academic course of study or for a period of five years whichever is less, on the basis of firm letters of admission from universities/ recognized colleges or educational institutions in India. Change of purpose and institutions are not permissible.

Documents required:

MEDICAL & MED. ATTENDENT VISA(fee N$1200 for 6 months& N$1790 for 1 year/ME) :

Persons travelling to India for medical treatment is established/recognized hospitals, medical centres.

Documents required

Two recent photos51mm*51mm (Not older than three months, no uniform) with white background with DARK DRESS and frontal view. Eyebrows should be visible. Ears, forehead chin to be completely visible. Clarity of the photo is very important - Edited, blurred or unclear photos should not be accepted.

Documentary evidence for patients treatment its duration etc., return ticket and availability of funds, submitted the medical documents etc. hospitals letters etc. stating the patients/medical attendant details etc.

INTERN VISA (fee N$1200 for 1 year/SE/ME) :

Persons travelling to India for pursue internship in Indian companies, educational Institutions etc. .

Documents Required

Two recent photos51mm*51mm (Not older than three months, no uniform) with white background with DARK DRESS and frontal view. Eyebrows should be visible. Ears, forehead chin to be completely visible. Clarity of the photo is very important - Edited, blurred or unclear photos should not be accepted.

Properly filled up online application form with signatures/uploaded pictures (www.indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa) Original Passport. Documentary evidence for Internship offer from Indian companies/educational institutions etc. with duration period with remuneration offer per annum. Completion of graduation/post graduation certificate, the duration of the visa is upto 1 year or duration of the internship programme whichever is less, Minimum salary Rs.7.80 lakhs per annum for a company, for educational institutions its less.

FILM VISA (fee N$1790 for 1 year/ME) :

Company/Team travelling to India for shooting of a feature film/reality TV show and or commercial TV serials etc.

Film visa will be processed in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, who will process the request within 60 days. The team have to submit the approval/permission from Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, visa will be project specific.

Documents Required

Two recent photos51mm*51mm (Not older than three months, no uniform) with white background with DARK DRESS and frontal view. Eyebrows should be visible. Ears, forehead chin to be completely visible. Clarity of the photo is very important - Edited, blurred or unclear photos should not be accepted.

Properly filled up online application form with signatures,uploaded pictures (www.indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa) Original Passport. The company/team have to submit the approval/permission from Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, with the applicant position(Cast & crew) . Visa will be project specific with endorsement.

CONFERENCE/SEMINAR VISA(N$1200/-): It is issued for attending conferences /seminars/ meetings in India. A letter of invitation from the organiser of the Conference is to be submitted along with the visa application. Delegates coming to attend conferences may combine tourism with attending conferences.

Documents Required: At least 5 working days in advance for Namibians, and 15 days for foreigners. (For some foreign countries nationals they have to well apply very much in advance i.e. 30 days prior to the events date etc.)

Invitation letter from the organizer of the conference. MHA & MEA Clearance copy from India. NOC from the local sponsor (If traveling in personal capacity, NOC not required). Reference for participants from PRC Countries. Prior authorization from Ministry of External Affairs, India & Ministry of Home Affairs, India are required. They have to apply for at least one month ahead of the conference schedule.

ENTRY VISA(fee N$1200 for 6 months, N$1790 for 1 years/ME & N$2980 for 5 years/ME)

Foreign nationals going to India for training (Educational or Athletic) purpose.

For Sports, Visa Applicants applying for Indian Visa and their purpose of visit is Sports i..e Entry Visa.

Note the additional documents required for Entry Visa. MHA Clearance, MEA Clearance, Approval of Ministry of Sports and Invitation will be from the organization conducting the tournament/ event.

EMPLOYMENT VISA ( fee N$1790 for 6 months/N$2980 for 1 years/ME; N$4470 for 5 years/ME): It is issued to skilled and qualified professionals or persons who are engaged or appointed by companies, organisations, economic undertakings as technicians, technical experts, senior executives etc. Applicants are required to submit proof of contract/employment/engagement of foreign nationals by the company or organization.

Documents Required for Employment Visa -- Properly filled up online application form with signatures, uploaded pictures (www.indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa) 2 recent photos 51mm* 51mm (Not older than Three months, no uniform) with white background with DARK DRESS and frontal view. Eyebrows should be visible. Ears, forehead chin to be completely visible. Clarity of the photo is very important - Edited, blurred or unclear photos should not be accepted. .

Original Passport with a validity of more than 6 months, and at least 4 blank pages. The employing company/ organization should be registered in India and a copy of such registration should be submitted. Minimum salary Rs.16.25 lakhs per annum.Professional or educational certificate. Applicants should not work for any other company during the visa period.The applicant must submit the proof of employment or contract or engagement by the company or organization in India to be accepted.

TRANSIT VISA (N$300/- for 15 days for Single or Double Entry): It is issued for a maximum period of 15-days with single/double entry facilities to bona fide transit passengers only, which sole purpose is to enabling him/her to travel through India to a destination outside India.

Documents Required for Transit Visa -- Properly filled up online application form with signatures, uploaded pictures (www.indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa) 2 recent photos 51mm* 51mm (Not older than three months, no uniform) with white background with DARK DRESS and frontal view. Eyebrows should be visible. Ears, forehead chin to be completely visible. Clarity of the photo is very important - Edited, blurred or unclear photos should not be accepted. . Original Passport with a validity of more than 6 months, and at least 4 blank pages. The applicant should hold valid travel documents for the country of destination and the countries en route, the production of a confirmed through ticket for onward journey and documentation supporting the need to proceed to a destination beyond India.

JOURNALIST VISA (upto 6 months-Single Entry - visa feeN$1200): Issued to professional journalists and photographers, editors, news correspondent working for an association or a company engaged in the print/electronic media for visiting India. J visa can be issued for upto three months stay in India. Family members of the journalist may be issued Entry visa.

Original Passport with a validity of more than 6 months, and at least 4 blank pages. The employing company/ organizanation letter or journalist ID etc, time duration, project et.

VISA TO PROJECT & RESEARCH (please contact the office): It is valid for upto 6 months to 5 years single/multiple entry. Research project work, secure admission to a recognized/reputed institution from Ministy of Human Resource Development, and evidence of financial resources, details of previous visit(if any) etc. with original letter of the admission from the Indian institutions etc.

VISA TO MOUNTAINEERING (please contact the office): The Indian Mountaineering Foundation(IMF) coordinates all arrangements for all mountaineering expeditions. All requests for it should be addressed to IMF, at least 4 months in advance, they will get the approval and only after they will authorise the Missions to grant visa to the members, for upto 6 months to 1 year (single /multiple entry).

VISA TO MISSIONARIES (please contact the office): It is granted to a foreigner whose sole objective to visit India for Missionary work and have assured financial standing. Application from foreign missioneraries coming to work in new foreign missionary centres will be considered only if the society concerned has obtain permission for the Govt. of India for opening the centre, and the foreign missionary societies in India have recognised by National Christian Council of India. A sponsorship letter from a responsible official of the society.

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION: The duration of continuous stay in India, for each visit on a tourist visa/ business visa for a Namibian shall not exceed 90 days and registration not required. Validity of all visas is counted from the date of their issue.

If visa is for more than 180 days, and the visa applicant (student visa/business/intern etc.) has to stay continuously for more than 180 days, registration is compulsory within 14 days of first arrival in India. Applicants are requested NOT to finalize their travel plans before their applications have been accepted by the High Commission of India, Windhoek for issuing the required visa.

The time required for processing the visa applications depends upon the type of visa applied for.Visa applications should be submitted at least 10 days in advance, for foreigners it should be submitted at least 15 days in advance, applications will be received only when it is completed in all respects.

PLEASE NOTE

» An Indian visa is valid from the date of issue of the visa and not from the date of arrival in India.

» Please note that the validity of the visa and number of entries will depend on various factors and the Indian Mission's decision is final.

» If applicant is having two valid passports they can apply Indian Visa only through the passport which has Valid Namibian Residence Visa and travel stamps with valid pages.

» Any Visa Applicant applying for visa such as Business Visa, Conference Visa, Employment Visa, Entry Visa (Exhibitions, Sports and Trading), the Invitation Letter from India which is to be submitted along with the application.

Eligibility

» International Travellers whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation , sight seeing , casual visit to meet friends or relatives, short duration medical treatment or casual business visit.

1. Passport should have at least six months validity from the date of arrival in India. The passport should have at least two blank pages for stamping by the Immigration Officer.

2. International Travellers should have return ticket or onward journey ticket,with sufficient money to spend during his/her stay in India.

3. International Travellers having Pakistani Passport or Pakistani origin may please apply for regular Visa at Indian Mission.

4. Not available to Diplomatic/Official Passport Holders or Laissez-passer travel document holders.

5. Not available to individuals endorsed on Parent's/Spouse's Passport i.e. each individual should have a separate passport.

6. Not available to International Travel Document Holders.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Important Technical Information for Online Visa application

» This site is best viewed in Mozilla Firefox,Google Chrome,Internet Explorer (Windows) version 9.0 and above.

1. The applicant must also have Adobe Acrobat Reader version 7.0 or higher installed on your PC in order to download and print the completed application form.

Instructions for e-Visa

» e-Visa has 3 sub-categories i.e., e-Tourist visa, e-Business Visa and e-Medical visa. A foreigner will be permitted to club these categories.

1. Applicants of the eligible countries/territories may apply online minimum 4 days in advance of the date of arrival with a window of 120 days. Example: If you are applying on 1st Sept then applicant can select arrival date from 5th Sept to 2nd Jan

2. Recent front facing photograph with white background and photo page of Passport containing personal details like name, date of birth, nationality, expiry date etc are to be uploaded mandatorily by the applicant. Additionally one more document depending upon the e-Visa type would also be required to be uploaded. The application is liable to be rejected if the uploaded documents and photograph are not clear / as per specification.

3. e-Visa fee is country/Territory specific. Bank transaction charges of 2.5% will be charged additionally on applicable e-Visa fees. The fee must be paid at least 4 days before the expected date of travel otherwise application will not be processed. To know the fee applicable on your Country/Territory please Click here .

4. e-Visa fee once submitted is non-refundable as the fee is for processing of the application and is not dependent on either Grant or Rejection of Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).

5. Applicant should carry a copy of Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) along with him/her at the time of travel. Please confirm that your ETA status is shown as 'GRANTED' on this website prior to commencement of your journey. Applicants can track the status of their application online by clicking VisaStatus

6. Biometric details of the applicant will be mandatorily captured at Immigration on arrival in India.

7. The validity of e-Visa will be 60 days from the date of arrival in India.Double entry is permitted on e-Tourist Visa and e-Business Visa. Triple entry will be permitted on e-Medical Visa.

8. e-Visa is valid for entry through 24 designated Airports (i.e. Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Calicut, Chennai, Chandigarh,Cochin, Coimbatore, Delhi, Gaya, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Tiruchirapalli, Trivandrum & Varanasi) and 3 designated seaports (i.e. Cochin, Goa, Mangalore). However, the foreigner can take exit from any of the authorized Immigration Check Posts (ICPs) in India.

9. This facility is in addition to the existing Visa services.

10. e-Visa can be availed for maximum of two times in a calendar year i.e. between January to December.

11. e-Visa is non-extendable, non-convertible & not valid for visiting Protected/Restricted and Cantonment Areas. If you intend to visit Protected/Restricted/Cantonment areas, you would require prior permission from the Civil Authority please visit here.

12. Please be careful while making payment of the e-Visa fee. If the number of unsuccessful attempts is more than three (03), then the application id would be blocked and the applicant would be required to apply afresh by filling the application form again and regenerating a new application id.

13. The e-Visa fee payment status updation may take up to 4 hours due to technical reasons/network delays. Before re-applying, the applicants are requested to wait for 4 hours for payment status updating, after final submission of the application form and payment of the fee. In cases, where e-Visa fee has been deducted but status is not updated, the applicants are advised to verify their payment status by clicking on 'Verify Payment/Pay Visa Fee' tab or by clicking on the link Verify Payment.

14. Nationals of Yellow Fever affected countries or travellers arriving from these countries must carry YELLOW FEVER VACCINATION CARD at the time of arrival in India, otherwise they may be quarantined for 6 days upon arrival in India.
