All fees are available in the ‘Consular Fees’ section. Kindly note that Visa Fees are excluding a N$-60/- fee (per application) that is paid towards the Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF).

BUSINESS VISA (fee: N$2280/- for 1 years; N$4750/- for 5 years/M)

Valid for one or more years with multiple entries. Business Visa is granted to a foreign national who wants to visit India to establish an industrial/business venture or to explore possibilities to set up industrial/business venture, or wants to purchase/sell industrial products in India. The applicant is a person of assured financial standing and expertise in the field of the intended business. The applicant is not visiting India for the business of money-lending or petty-trading, or for a full time employment in India involving payment of salary in India etc.

The facility of Business Visa is also extended to senior executives of firms, experts, tour conductors and travel agents, etc., visiting India in connection with work related to projects of national importance, including those undertaken by public sector undertakings, and conducting business tours of foreigners or business relating to it, etc. A foreign national will have to comply with some other requirements, a minimum stay of 2 years in Namibia is required.

Business Visa is applicable to foreign nationals who wish to visit India to/for:-

purchase/sell industrial products or commercial products or consumer durables.

technical meetings/discussions, attending Board meetings or general meetings for providing business services support.

recruitment of manpower.

foreign nationals who are partners in the business and/or functioning as Directors of the company.

consultations regarding exhibitions or for participation in exhibitions, trade fairs, business fairs etc.

transact business with suppliers/potential suppliers at locations in India, to evaluate or monitor quality, give specifications, place orders, negotiate further supplies etc., relating to goods or services procured from India.

foreign experts/specialists on a visit of short duration in connection with an ongoing project with the objective of monitoring the progress of the work, conducting meetings with Indian customers and/or to provide technical guidance.

pre-sales or post-sales activity not amounting to actual execution of any contract or project.

foreign trainees of multinational companies/corporate houses coming for in-house training in the regional hubs of the concerned company located in India.

foreign nationals coming as tour conductors and travel agents and /or conducting business tours of foreigners or business relating to it, etc.

foreign academicians/ experts coming under GIAN (Global Initiative for Academic Networks).

crew members of scheduled/ non-scheduled flights operated by scheduled airlines, non-scheduled and chartered flights operated by non-scheduled airlines and special flights.

foreign nationals intending to visit India to participate in cultural events/ activities with remuneration.

foreign nationals who are engaged in commercial sports events in India on contract

Business visa holders are required to register themselves with the FRRO/ FRO in case the aggregate stay in India exceeds 6 months during a calendar year.

Foreigners intending to visit India for employment purposes may note that in cases where they are paid salary/ remuneration outside India, they would be granted Business Visa.

A Letter of invitation from the Indian company stating the purpose and duration for which visa is requested.

Business card of the applicant.

A letter from the company on whose behalf the applicant is travelling, precisely stating the purpose, duration and the financial obligations of the visit, the expertise of the applicant and the length of his employment with the company. This letter should be on company letterhead and written in English with a stamp and signature.

A letter from the Indian company, addressed to the Embassy of India in Berlin, specifying the exact purpose of the visit and the expected start and end dates planned. This letter should be on company letterhead and written in English with a stamp and signature.

Certificate of Incorporation of the company in India.

Business visas - undertaking from the concerned Indian company on the following lines:

Conference Visa (‘C’ Visa)

Foreign nationals are granted Conference Visas on production of an invitation to a conference/seminar/workshop being organized in India.

For business meetings or board meetings, to discuss business matters of a particular company/organization, a foreigner may obtain Business Visa.

Journalist Visa (‘J’ Visa)

Professional journalists, photographers, documentary film producers or Directors (other than of commercial films), representatives of a radio and/or television organization, travel writers/ travel promotion photographers etc;

Journalists going for tourism purposes, may be granted a "Journalist visa" for Tourism purpose only. Visa is granted for a period up to three months. For longer-term visas, please apply in advance with full justification.

If the applicant is going for professional reasons:

A letter from the employer specifying the exact purpose of the visit and the expected start and end dates. This letter should be on company letterhead and written in English.

If the applicant is going for personal reasons:

An undertaking stating that the applicant is going for tourism and not for reporting nor will be involved in any journalistic activity

If the applicant is going for documentary/advertisement shooting in India or professional work:

Ayush Visa (AY-1)

This category of visa Ayush Visa (AY-1) will be applicable to foreign nationals whose sole purpose is to seek treatment through Ayush systems / Indian systems of medicine like therapeutic care and wellness in a Hospital/ Wellness Centre accredited and registered with any Government authority(ies) concerned or NABH/ NCH/ NCISM accredited hospitals providing Ayush services in India.

Ayush visa for the purpose of medical treatment is granted for up to one year with maximum of three entries.

Ayush visa is issued for a period of 6 months or less, no registration with FRRO/FRO would be required.

Minor children accompanying a parent, who intends to come for medical treatment on a Ayush visa may be given Entry (‘X’) visa co-terminus with the Ayush Visa (AY-1) of the principal visa holder.

Ayush Visa (AY-2)

AYUSH Visa (AY-2), may be applicable to those who are accompanying a patient on AY-1 Visa. Maximum of two persons (attendant or family member) are permitted with a patient. The duration of the visa is co-terminus (AY-1) with the medical visa of the patient.

Visas for Afghanistan passport holders

Afghan nationals who desire to travel to India are required to apply for an Emergency X-Misc Visa on the e-visa portal at http://indianvisaonline.gov.in.

Afghan nationals entering India on X-Misc visa will have to register with the FRRO/FRO within 7 days of their arrival in India. If they are moving from their registered place of stay to another place, they will have to further register mandatorily with the FRRO/FRO concerned at the new place of residence.

Medical Visa (MED-1)

This category of visa will be applicable to foreign nationals whose sole purpose is to seek medical treatment in established/recognized/specialized hospitals/treatment centres in India.

Medical visa for the purpose of medical treatment is granted for up to one year with maximum of three entries.

If Medical visa/Medical Attendant visa is issued for a period of 6 months or less, no registration with FRRO/FRO would be required.

Minor children accompanying a parent, who intends to come for medical treatment on a Medical visa may be given Entry (‘X’) visa co-terminus with the Medical visa of the principal visa holder.

STUDENT VISA (fee: N$1520/-)

Issued for the duration of the academic course of study or for a period of five years whichever is less, on the basis of firm letters of admission from universities/recognized colleges or educational institutions in India. Change of purpose and institutions are not permissible.  A student visa is granted to an individual who produces proof of admission to a full-time course in a recognized educational institution in India.

For school education, for higher education, provisional student visa for short term courses and for those coming under Student Exchange Programme.

For studies in Yoga, vedic culture and Indian systems of music and dance and for Buddhist studies. For Theological studies and for Missionary students.

For research scholars, visiting research faculty, research scholar on bilateral exchange programme, members of botanical scientific anthropological etc. expeditions.
For those coming for internship in India.

Note:

1.         No student visa will be issued if it is sponsored by franchise Educational Institutes running off-campus centres, Study Centres of Open Universities offering distance learning programmes, Educational Institutions running “outreach” programmes and offering courses without any statutory sanction from regulatory authorities.

2.         Student visa will not be issued for pursuing ‘Short Term Courses’ which are not recognized.

3.         List of recognized institutions are available here: https://www.ugc.gov.in/. Further, a list of institutes approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is available on their website www.aicte-india.org.

All student visa applicants are required to register on the Study In India portal as it is necessary for the student visa process. Register here: https://www.studyinindia.gov.in/ - once you have completed and submitted the registration, kindly print it out and bring it along with all other documents.

TOURIST VISA (fee: N$1900/- for 1 years; N$3800/- for up to 5 years/M)

Given for up to 1 to 5 years. The applicant is required to produce/submit documents in proof of his financial standing. Grant of 5 years tourist visa: the continuous stay during each visit shall not exceed 90 days

Entry Visa (‘X’ Visa) (fee: N$1520/- for 6 months; N$2280/- for 1 year/M; N$3800/- for 5 years/M)

Issued to foreign nationals going to India for training or competitions (Educational or Athletic purpose).

Entry Visa is mainly given to a person of Indian origin and spouse & children of an Indian citizen/person of Indian origin/OCI cardholder or for specific purposes as decided by the Mission/Consulate. Registration is required in FRRO/FRO if the stay is more than 6 months.

This visa category is for applicants who is/are:-

A person of Indian origin (X-1).

Spouse and children of a person of Indian nationality or origin (X-1).

Applicants coming to join Auroville Foundation / Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Puducherry / Missionaries of Charity, Kolkata / similar approved organizations, temples and foreign Buddhist monks coming to join Buddhist Monasteries/other Buddhist organizations for charity work (X-2).

Foreigners owning property in India (X-Misc).

Entry visa applications for voluntary work in NGOs will be rejected as not eligible.

If the applicant is of Indian origin (born Indian) and has held an Indian passport in the past (one of the documents mentioned below to be attached with the application form):

If the applicant is Spouse of Indian national/ person of Indian origin (the documents mentioned below to be attached with the application form):

A copy of passport/ Surrender Certificate of Indian Passport/ OCI Card issued to the Spouse of the applicant.

In case of a Minor child, Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate of the parents with a consent letter signed by both parents/ if one parent, a copy of custody letter from local court.

If the applicant wishes to join Auroville Foundation / Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Puducherry / Missionaries of Charity, Kolkata / similar approved organizations, temples, Buddhist Monasteries/other Buddhist organizations for charity work: Official invitation letter issued by the Secretary of Auroville Foundation / Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Puducherry / Missionaries of Charity, Kolkata / similar approved organizations, temples, Buddhist Monasteries/other Buddhist organizations. This document must be provided in its original sealed envelope.

If the applicant owns property and intends to reside in India: Copy of letter from the Reserve Bank of India granting permission to acquire property in India and Proof of ownership of the property in India.

Film Visa (‘F’ Visa)   (fee: N$2280/- for 1 year/M)

Film Visa is issued for the purpose of shooting a feature film/reality TV & Web Shows/Series, Commercial TV Serials/Shows and Web Shows/Series in India. The application for such cases will be processed only after approval from the Indian Embassy, Berlin or the Consulate as per jurisdiction on case to case basis.

Film visa processing time may be longer depending upon the case.

Those interested in making documentaries in India may contact Indian Embassy, Berlin or Consulates as per jurisdiction. For visa applicants residing in Berlin, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, please fix appointment at email ID: pni.berlin@mea.gov.in and pni1.berlin@mea.gov.in. Please also fill up the application and furnish details as mentioned therein along with an undertaking. An approval for documentary filming may take up to 8 weeks from the date of submission of application complete in all respects.

No registration will be required with Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO)/ Foreigners Registration Officer (FRO) if the stay during each visit does not exceed 6 months. If the intention of the foreigner on Film visa is to stay for more than 6 months, he/she should get himself/herself registered with the FRRO/FRO concerned within two weeks after the expiry of 6 months. Further, if the aggregate stay in India on Film Visa exceeds 6 months in a calendar year, the foreigner will have to get registered with the FRRO/FRO concerned.

Visa Category – Film Visa (Multiple Entry with 1 year Validity)

Film Visa may be issued to cast and crew members of international productions and official coproductions shooting a Feature Film, TV / Web commercial show / series and TV /Web Reality show / series. The permission for shooting these categories of production is granted by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MoI&B), Government of India. The proposals are accepted and process by the Film Facilitation Office (FFO). The application is to be submitted online on www.ffo.gov.in. After the shooting permission has been granted by the MoI&B, the cast and crew members of the approved project are required to apply for Film Visa.

Four copies of the detailed shooting script in case of feature film and detailed concept in case of TV show/TV serials, details of visiting film crew and location of film shooting.

A letter of intent regarding the shooting of the film in India, mentioning the production schedule or the dates of shooting, particulars of the cast and crew coming to India for the purpose of the shoot/production, chosen location, list of filming equipment (if any) that is being brought into the country and other relevant details. This letter should be in the company letterhead and written in English.

Authorization letter from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in India.

Employment Visa (fee: N$2280/- for 6 months; N$3800/- for 1 year/M; N$5700/- for 5 years/M)

An Employment Visa (E-1 or E-2 or E-3) may be granted to a foreigner subject to fulfilment of the following conditions:

Issued to skilled and qualified professionals or persons who are engaged or appointed by companies, organisations, economic undertakings as technicians, technical experts, senior executives etc. Applicants are required to submit proof of contract/employment/engagement of foreign nationals by the company or organization.

The applicant is a highly skilled and/or qualified professional, who is being engaged or appointed by a company/ organization/ industry/ undertaking in India on contract or employment basis

Documents required:

Original passport with minimum 6 months validity and 2 blank pages and a copy of the first page of the passport.

City registration with minimum 2 years stay for non-German nationals.

Proof of educational qualifications

Letter from his previous German company if applicable.

Visa validity and number of entries depends on each application, depending on the requirement.

Original copy of Employment Contract between Indian Employer and applicant. Contract is to be signed by both parties on each page. Salary/ remuneration paid in India and in Indian Currency only  (more than INR.16.25 lacs per annum)

If travelled previously on Employment visa, a copy of IT return to be attached for the previous employment period.

There shall be a separate letter by the Indian employer, listing all payments made to the employee outside India by parent/ subsidiary/sister entity or otherwise, including social security, pension and any other contributions in Germany or elsewhere to the nearest approximate value in original currency as well as Indian Rupees. The employer shall state in this letter that all such income shall be disclosed in the income tax return in India for the employee.

Employment Visas - undertaking from the concerned Indian company on the following lines:

Transit Visa (TR)

A Transit visa granted for travel through India is valid for entry within 15 days of date of issue for a maximum stay of 3 days. For a stay in India beyond 3 days, an appropriate visa should be obtained.

A foreign national (other than a Pakistani national) on Transit visa will be allowed to avail facilities provided under Tourist Visa. However, if the foreigner intends to perform some work or business in India, irrespective of the duration of his/her proposed stay, he/she should obtain a visa of the appropriate category.

A person who desires to make two entries into India in transit in the course of the same journey can be granted a transit visa valid for two entries and for stay in transit for a period not exceeding 3 days for each journey.

A Transit visa is not required by a foreigner passing through, in direct transit by air, and travelling onward through India, provided he/she does not leave the specified juridiction of the airport.

A Transit visa is not required by a foreigner who does not leave the ship while it halts at an Indian port.

For transit period less than 24 hours in Indian Port, applicant is required to clarify from their Airline and destination airport authority if transit visa is required.

VISA TO MOUNTAINEERING (fee: N$1520 /- for 6 months/S/M; N$2280/- for 1 year/M)

(please contact the office): The Indian Mountaineering Foundation(IMF) coordinates all arrangements for all mountaineering expeditions. All requests for it should be addressed to IMF, at least 4 months in advance, they will get the approval and only after they will authorize the Missions to grant visa to the members, for up to 6 months to 1 year (single /multiple entry).

VISA TO MISSIONARIES (fee: N$1520/- for 6 months/S/M; N$2280/- for 1 year/ME; N$3800/- for 5 years/M)

(please contact the office): It is granted to a foreigner whose sole objective is to visit India for Missionary work and have assured financial standing. Application from foreign missionaries coming to work in new foreign missionary centres will be considered only if the society concerned has obtained permission from the Govt. of India for opening the centre, and the foreign missionary societies in India are recognized by National Christian Council of India. A sponsorship letter from a responsible official of the society.

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION: The duration of continuous stay in India, for each visit on a tourist visa/ business visa for a Namibian shall not exceed 90 days and registration not required. Validity of all visas is counted from the date of their issue.

If visa is for more than 180 days, and the visa applicant (student visa/business/intern etc.) has to stay continuously for more than 180 days, registration is compulsory within 14 days of first arrival in India. For extension of visa in New Delhi , MHA- Director (F), Lok Nayak Bhawan, 1st floor, Khan market, New Delhi-110003 may be contacted.

Applicants are requested NOT to finalize their travel plans before their applications have been accepted by the High Commission of India, Windhoek for issuing the required visa.

The time required for processing the visa applications depends upon the type of visa applied for. Visa applications should be submitted at least 10 days in advance, for foreigners it should be submitted at least 15 days in advance, applications will be received only when it is completed in all respects.

  • If you will not be changing any details in the passport, the documents required are as follows:

  • Print the form, sign (same signature as on your previous passport unless you would like to change your signature, of which you will need an additional document regarding the changes), bring the form to our office with the below documents

PCC

  • Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is issued to both Indian nationals and foreign nationals (in respect of their stay in India) for specific purpose as requested by the applicant.
  • Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) – Indian Passport Holders need to submit the following:
  • Duly correctly filled in and signed PCC Application Form - Indian Passport Holders*
  • 2 (Two) recent photographs (2 X 2 inch) identical photographs showing frontal view of full face. Photographs should be in colour with white background with all applications.
  • Applicant’s valid passport in original and photocopy pages containing personal & family particulars of the applicant (first and last page is required, on the same paper)
  • Valid Namibian visa status: Biometric card/Namibia Settlement status. Original + photocopy required
  • Photocopy of last entry stamp (in passport) into Namibia
  • Indian Address proof if change of address (The address on the online application form must match the address proof provided)
  • Marriage certificate (in case spouse name is not endorsed on the passport), if divorced, please attach the divorce certificate.
  • Photocopy of the proof of residence in Namibia which should match the address as specified in the application form.

Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) – Foreign Passport Holders need to submit the following:

  • Duly filled in and signed PCC Application Form - Namibian/foreign passport holders*
  • All Foreign passport holders need to submit their original passport along with the application
  • 2 (Two) recent photographs (2 X 2 inch) identical photographs showing frontal view of full face. Photographs should be in color with white background with all applications.
  • NON Namibian Passport Holders need to provide copy of their valid Namibian visa status and photocopy of their last entry stamp (in passport) into Namibia.
  • Photocopy of the proof of residence in Namibia which should match the address as specified in the application form.
  • Applicants who are foreign passport holders and who never held an Indian passport need to submit a self-attested photocopy page containing Indian visa/visas in their passports. If the applicant had the visa on their previous passport, kindly provide photocopy of the previous passport and Indian visa photocopies.

Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) – Foreign passport holders who previously held Indian passports need to submit any of the following:

  • Photocopy page containing valid Indian visas on their passports.
  • Photocopy of the OCI or PIO card (if the applicant holds the OCI or PIO card) OR
  • Photocopy of Indian passport surrender certificate (foreign passport holders who previously held an Indian passport are required to surrender their last held Indian passport at the nearest Indian Mission/Post and obtain an Indian passport surrender certificate).

 

ATTESTATION

Namibian Driver's License Conversion – Confirmation letter

In order for the High Commission of India to issue you with a confirmation letter verifying your driver's license, you would need to physically come to the High Commission of India and apply for this service. You will fill in a form here and must bring the following supporting documents:

  • 2x passport photos in the size 2 inches x 2 inches
  • original passport
  • Applicant’s valid passport in original and photocopy pages containing personal & family particulars of the applicant (first and last page is required, on the same paper)
  • Photocopy of Namibian visa status
  • Photocopy of last entry stamp into Namibia (in passport)
